Amulet by the Admor Harav Yitzchak Isaac of Komarne to Protect from Plague. Lvov, 1856.
“Whenever he carries the amulet…he shall not fear the plague.”

Following repeated fatal outbreaks of cholera in the country, the Komarno Rebbe Harav Yitzchak Isaac wrote a special amulet to serve as physical protection against the plague. The amulet was printed in a separate leaf at the end of his sefer Odom Yashar along with his pledge that one who “Carries it with him shall not fear the plague.”

The amulet was printed on a full page and is extremely rare. Apparently, this page was ripped out of the majority of copies of this sefer, as the owners carried it with them for protection.

This item comprises 2 sefarim:

1. Sefer Notzer Chessed with a commentary based on the secrets of kabbalah and spiritual service of Rabbi Yisrael Baal Shem Tov and other kabbalistic works authored by the great tzaddikim of the era.

2. Sefer Odom Yashar, a very rare 9-leaf booklet encompassing segulos and prayers for times of plague by the Admor Harav Yitzchak Isaac of Komarno. The last page features the shape of an open hand with sacred kabbalistic phrases and Holy Names.

The following is printed on the bottom of the page: “He should place a coin inside this amulet, and whenever he carries the amulet with the coin…he shall not fear the plague…He shall have only life, and to all who surround him.”

Lvov, 1856. First edition. [1], 48, [3]: [9] leaves with slight stains on title page and last pages. Several minor professional restorations. Attractive new leather binding.
