Long Autograph Letter of Torah Novellae from Rabbi Binyamin Zev Wolfe Breyer, AB"D of Tab; 1887

Long handwritten letter by Rabbi Zev Wolfe Breyer, ab”d of Tab and author of Nachlas Binyamin.

Rabbi Wolf begins his letter describing the establishment of a Talmud Torah for the community’s youth: "We got up and established a Beis Midrash for their education… so that they should know how to serve G-d according to the law."

While the first page and a half discusses the establishment of the Talmud Torah, the rest of the letter contains long Torah novellae.

Rabbi Binyamin Zev Wolfe Breyer was the son of Rabbi Yaakov Breyer, son-in-law of Zev Wolf Abeles, ab”d of Tab. He was a disciple of the Ksav Sofer, Rabbi Aharon Singer of Mattersdorf, and the Shoel U’Meishiv, and discoursed with these great leaders and others. He served as ab”d of Tab until his passing in 1893. His authored Responsa, Nachlas Binyamin, was quoted often by the Hungarian sages of his generation.

Dated Tab, 1887, this letter was published in Rabbi Zev Wolf Bryer’s sefer Nachlas Binyamin.
