This first edition was published by the Maharal himself in Prague, 1598, and is very rare.
Rabbi Akiva [Gintzberg] Frankfurt was a leading rabbi in the city of Frankfurt. Rabbi Akiva Eiger
was his descendant and it is known that the Chassam Sofer would give charity in Rabbi Akiva Frankfurt’s memory in times of need; a practice which is continued by his descendants to this very day.
The very fact that he was eulogized by the great Maharal of Prague, who then went on to publish the eulogy, stating that he was the "Gadol Hador" tells of Rabbi Akiva Frankfurt’s greatness.
