Magnificent Sabbioneta Bible; 1554
Five Books of the Torah with the Rambam’s commentary with ‘open’ and ‘closed’ parshiyos (spaces, similar to in a Torah scroll).
The bible was purposely printed without vowels and te’amim in order to keep it aligned with the layout of the Torah scroll. There are many glosses written in the hand of a Torah scribe with the directives on the proper order of Torah scroll layout .
Published in Sabbioneta, 1554 by Tuvia Pu’ah, the first Sabbioneta publisher.
At the end of the chumash is a colophon and chart of the Torah readings for the holidays.
Extremely rare.
