Rabbi David of Tolna (1808 1882) was the son of Rabbi Mordechai of Chernobyl and founder of the Tolna dynasty. He was named after his maternal grandfather, Rabbi David Laikes, a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. In 1837, he began to lead as admor and his courtyard quickly grew into one of the largest Chassidic centers of the Ukraine. Rabbi David of Tolna was renowned as a miracle worker and Jews would flock to him from around the world in order to receive his blessing and prayers. He would distribute amulets as well, and the stories of people who were miraculously saw salvation through him are numerous.    



This first edition was published in Zhitomir, 1862, in the printing press of Rabbi Chanina Lipa and Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Shapira.
