Chabad: Long Letter from Rebbetzin Sara Shterna Schneersohn, Wife of the Admor the Rasha”b and Mother of the Admor Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch

Letter from Rebbetzin Sara Shterna of Chabad written in Yiddish in Riga, on the 13th of Teves, circa 1930 – 1932.

Rebbetzin Sara Shterna Schneersohn of Chabad (1859 – 1942) was the holy and righteous fifth rebbetzin of the Chabad dynasty. She was the daughter of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak of Avrutch, son of the Tzemach Tzeddek and the maternal granddaughter of Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael of Chortkov- son-in-law of the Mitteler Rebbe. Rebbetzin Sara married the Rashab in 1875. Years later, in 1940, she immigrated to the United States along with her son, the frierdiker Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak. Following her passing in 1942, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak established a chain of schools named "Beis Sara" in her memory.
