Letter from Admor Rabbi Yosef Kalisch of Amshinov

Letter of recommendation for a shochet u’bodek who wished to immigrate to Eretz Yisrael “and does not have how to finance this expense, ” handwritten and signed by the Admor- Rabbi Yosef Kalisch of Amshinov.
The letter is entirely written, signed and sealed by the Admor himself.

Rabbi Yosef of Amshinov (1878 – 1936) was the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Amshinov, son of Rabbi Yaakov David of Amshinov, son of the Admor of Vorke, and son-in-law of the Nefesh Chaya. Rabbi Yosef was appointed Rabbi of Ostrova at a young age and succeeded his father as Admor of Amshinov in 1918. Already in his youth, Rabbi Yosef’s gifted talents were apparent as was his exceptional diligence in learning. Rabbi Yosef possessed an imposing and holy countenance and his home was open to all. During his final years, he resettled in Otwock and passed away there.
