Letter from Rabbi Yaakov Landau AB”D Bnei Brak to the Admor Rabbi Yoel of Satmar Regarding the Religious Council in Bnei Brak

Signed letter from Rabbi Yaakov Landau addressed to the Admor Rabbi Yoel of Satmar.

Based on the content, it seems that the Admor was unhappy that Rabbi Yaakov Landau held a position in the Jewish Council, which was sponsored by the Zionistic government.

In this long letter, Rabbi Yaakov explains his reason for remaining at the post. Among his arguments, he explains that were he to leave the Council, the position would likely be filled by someone who could lead to the defilement of the city Bnei Brak .

Rabbi Yaakov Landau (1893-1986) served as the rabbi of Bnei Brak for fifty years. He was close to Rabbi Shalom Ber Schneersohn, the Rayatz and the Rogotchover. He established the large Kashrus organization in Bnei Brak.

Dated Bnei Brak, 1964.
