“Wealth and honor and the gold of the land will fill your
home:" Letter from Rabbi Raphael Yeshaya Azulai addressed to Ancona’s community leaders.

The main letter is written in Italian. Rabbi Azulai wrote a concluding sentence in Lashon HaKodesh and signed in his very own handwriting.

Rabbi Raphael Yeshaya Azulai (1743-1826) was the eldest son of Rabbi Chaim Yosef David Azulai, known by all as the “Chid”a.” His holy father regarded his son with much love and admiration and included several of his responsa in his sefarim. Rabbi Azulai served as rabbi of Ancona until his passing on the 9th of Shevat, 1826. Just like his father, he lived for 83 years. His community greatly mourned his passing and accorded him tremendous final respects.

Dated Ancona, 1808.
