FIrst Edition “Kanon al Nasa” [Women’s Law] Authored by the Ben Ish Chai; Baghdad, 1906

Sefer authored by the Ben Ish Chai for women containing laws applicable to women, including mussar, aggadah and prayers.

The sefer was written in Judeo-Arabic dialect, which was the spoken language of Baghdad’s Jews.

In his introduction, the Ben Ish Chai suggests that women review his sefer once every half a year. In some homes, women read the sefer each Shabbos.

The text and borders of the title page and the following page, which includes a dedication to the philanthropist Mrs. Rivka Bleilus of Calcutta, are printed in gold.

The final chapter includes sixty riddles and parables.

This rare first edition was published in Baghdad, 1906. The place of printing was omitted and “Livorno” is written in its place.
