"The lost Ten Tribes" Letter from Rabbi Yisrael Misklov to the Lost Ten Tribes; Amsterdam, 1831

Fascinating letter written by Rabbi Yisrael of Sklow, disciple of the Vilna Gaon and leader of the Perushim communities of Tzfas and Jerusalem, addressed to the Aseres Hashevatim (Ten lost tribes).

The letter was entrusted to the hands of Rabbi Baruch ben Rabbi Shmuel, a rabbinic emissary from the Perushim community in Tzfas. While making his rounds for the Tzfas settlement, Rabbi Baruch traveled to Syria, Persia, Kurdistan and other cities in the Persian Gulf in an attempt to discover the ten missing tribes.

Rabbi Baruch arrived in Yemen in 1833 and was appointed as the royal doctor after successfully curing the Imam Al-Mahdi. Tragically, the Imam later shot him, suspecting that he was a spy.

This Pamphlet was printed in Amsterdam, 1831.
