The “Torath Chaim of  Kosov-Vishnitz”  Rare Letter from the Legendary Rabbi Chaim of Kosov, Author of Toras Chaim

Rare letter completely handwritten by Rabbi Chaim of Kosov, author of Toras Chaim.
Rabbi Chaim Hager of Kosov (1795 – 1854) was the son of Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kosov, author of Ahavas Shalom, and grandson of Rabbi Yaakov Kappel Chassid of Kalmiya who was a disciple of the Baal Shem Tov. Rabbi Chaim was appointed Admor in 1825 and led his following in the legacy of his illustrious father. The great rabbis and leaders of his time held him in great regard: The Apta Rav called him a ”
king, son of kings,” and Rabbi Meir of Premishlan would say that ”
Rabbi Chaim of Kosov has an opinion in heaven, and the halacha is ruled like him.” His son, the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vizhnitz, author of Tzemach Tzaddik, was the son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhin. Rabbi Chaim’s Torah novellae were published in the
sefer Toras Chaim (see lot below).
