Fundamental Contemporary Kabbalistic Text

Sefer "Beis Lechem Yehuda" by Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya

Author’s Copy: Continuously Used and Extensively Revised

Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya’s personal copy of Beis Lechem Yehuda; his comprehensive explanation on Rabbi Chaim Vital’s Eitz Chaim.

Ever since the two volumes of Beis Lechem Yehuda were first published in 1936–1939, this sefer has become a fundamental text for Kabbalists of the last generations.

These very two volumes were used by Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya himself, with which he delved into Rabbi Chaim Vital’s work. Rabbi Yehuda added over 100 glosses and many edits in his very handwriting. His signature can be found on the title page.
Rabbi Yehuda’s son, Rabbi Shaul Ptaya, signed his name and added dedication pages to the beginning of the sefer, before the publishing of the new edition.

Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya (1859-1942) was a tremendous scholar and prominent Kabbalistic authority. He authored multiple renowned compilations on Kabbalah which gained quick popularity among Kabbalists. He was considered the uncontested master of kameyos and dealt mainly with practical Kabbalah, such as tikunim, Exorcism and kameyos. Great Torah scholars were counted among his many disciples. His blessings were known to bear fruit and people flocked to him from far and wide.
