Handwritten and Signed Letter from Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Teitelbaum of Sighet

Letter of endorsement on behalf of a woman whose husband had taken ill, leaving the family with no means of support.

Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Teitelbaum (1911 – 1944) was the last Admor of the Sighet dynasty prior to World War II and served as the Av Beis Din of Sighet. Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda was a son of the ‘Atzey Chaim’ and a son-in-law of his uncle, Rabbi Yoel of Satmar. Orphaned of his father at age fourteen, he was crowned in his father’s place despite his incredibly young age and led his followers with exceptional wisdom and leadership, giving them much encouragement during the war years. He perished in Auschwitz on the 25th of Iyar, 1944.
