Rare Handwritten Letter of Torah Novellae from Rabbi Yitzchak Meltzan, Author of the Ishei Yisrael Siddur of the Gra

Long handwritten and signed letter of Torah novellae regarding Shabbos from the Halachic master, Rabbi Yitzchak Meltzan.
This letter was sent during his tenure in Slabodka and is addressed to a friend, Rabbi Yaakov David Rapaport, son-in-law of Rabbi Yosef Zecharia Stern.
Rabbi Yitzchak Meltzan (1854 – 1916) was the son of the Maggid of Slotzk, author of Even Shlomo. A disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter, he was one of the first ten members of Kollel Ha’avreichim in Slabodka. He served for a time as
moreh hora’ah of Kelm and lived in Radin for two years, during which time he served as a “tester” in the yeshiva there. He became well-known for disseminating the writings of the Vilna Gaon and of the Mussar movement, and most notably, for publishing the Gra Siddur – Ishei Yisrael, which includes his Siach Yitzchak commentary. He authored Shvisas Shabbos, among other
sefarim.
