Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Rubin was a son of the Admor Rabbi Elimelech of Sokolov, son of Rabbi Asher Yeshaya of Ropshitz. He served in the Sokolov and Jaslo rabbinate until immigrating to Eretz Yisrael in 1885. He resided in Jerusalem for a year and then relocated to Tzfas where he served as the rabbi of the Ostreich-Ungrin community. He was a permanent figure in the Sanz beis midrash until his passing in 1909.
