 Original Letter of Ordination Certifying Kabbalist Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya of Baghdad

A letter of rabbinical ordination in shchita u’bedika from the rabbis of Baghdad, awarded in 1882 to the great Kabbalist Rabbi Yehuda Moshe Yehoshua Ptaya.
This letter of ordination is written in beautiful scribal handwriting and with figurative language and is signed by:
Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Eliezer Ezra Charash: Rabbinic leader of Baghdad. He signed his name first, along with many words of endorsement. He was a disciple of Rabbi Abdallah Somech and passed away in 1901.
Rabbi Yitzchak Avraham Shlomo of Mijalled (1835 – 1920) served as the "Chacham Bashi" from 1892 – 1904. He was a disciple of Rabbi Abdallah Somech and authored many sefarim including: Likutei Dinim (Bagdad 1881); Tehillos Yisrael on Tehillim (1912); and others.
Rabbi Yehuda Ptaya (1859 – 1942) was a tremendous scholar and one of the greatest Kabbalistic authorities of his time. He authored multiple renowned compilations on Kabbalah which became widespread amongst those who deal in Kabbalah. He was known as the uncontested master of writing kameyos and dealt mainly with practical Kabbalah such as tikunim, Exorcism and matters of reincarnation. Great Torah scholars were counted among his many disciples. His blessings were known to bear fruit and people flocked to him from far and wide .
