Remarkable Letter Regarding Shidduchim by the Tzaddik Rabbi Shalom Menashe of Brisk, 1894

"…in these times, it is meaningless to further converse until the two shall see one another and find favor…
Fascinating letter from the great Rabbi Shalom Menashe of Brisk in which his loftiness and greatness of stature are evident in each and every line written in his holy handwriting.

Rabbi Shalom Menashe of Brisk
(1820 – 1904) was among the few
tzaddikim of Lithuanian rabbis, known for his righteousness and as an extraordinary miracle-worker. It is know that he would sleep little and yet he would deliver seven Torah discourses each day.Rabbi Shalom Menashe served as a symbol of truth, humility and love for his fellow Jew and had a strikingly holy countenance. So much so, that the Brisker Rav attested that each time he looked at Rabbi Shalom Menashe, he would be shocked by his holy countenance anew.
Rabbi Shalom Menashe was the great-uncle of Rabbi Yehuda Leib Shteinman who spoke of his great holiness on several occasions.
