Letter from Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetzky Regarding His Attendance at the Agudas Harabbanim Convention, Toronto 1941

Letter from Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetzky written on stationary from his tenure as rabbi in Toronto, regarding his attendance at the Agudas Harabbanim convention.

Being that he was still a Lithuanian citizen, Rabbi Yaakov requests that the required documentation be taken care of so that he be permitted entry into the United States and back into Canada. Only with this documentation could he confirm his attendance.

Rabbi Yaakov Kamenetzky (1891 – 1986) was among the illustrious leaders of American Jewry in the last generation. A brilliant scholar, he was a student of great Lithuanian rabbis such as the Alter of Slabodka, Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz and Rabbi Isser Zalman Melcer. He served as rabbi of several cities in Lithuanian and the United States. He was the Rosh Yeshiva of Mesivta Torah Vadaath and one of the founders of the Mo’etzes Gedolei Hatorah in America, as well as the Chinuch Ha’atzmai. He authored Emes L’Yaakov on Torah, Talmud and Shulchan Aruch.
