Handwritten booklet from Rabbi Shalom Shachna, one of the greatest experts of
mesorah which includes orderly lists of the Nevi’im and Kesuvim, listed in alphabetical order according to their root words.

Rabbi Shalom Shachna Yellin of Skidle (1770 – 1874) was the universally acclaimed expert of
mesorah in the previous generation. He delved into the exact wording of the Torah and became proficient in all of its details, thus winning the acclaim of the great rabbinical leaders of his generation who relied upon his rulings. In 1858 he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and was sent by Jerusalem’s rabbinical leaders to research the liturgy of Kesser Aram Tzova. According to his rulings, an exact version of Nevi’im and Kesuvim were written under the supervision of Rabbi Shmuel Salant.

Rabbi Shalom Shachna was the father of Rabbi Aryeh Leiv Yellin, author of Yafeh Einayim.
