Letter of Rabbinic Ordination from Rabbi David Friedman, Av Beis Din of Tzelem


Handwritten letter from Rabbi David Friedman of Tzelem regarding a
shochet ubodek, addressed to his disciple, Rabbi Avraham Rubinstein of Krakow.
Written in 1901, the letter states: "
I tested him and saw his knife and found it satisfactory. His perception is very good and he is fluent in all laws of shchita ubedika
, and is incredibly proficient in his profession."

Rabbi David Friedman (1850 – 1905) was a disciple of the Ksav Sofer and Rabbi Menachem Katz Prostitz, who later became his father-in-law. He served as Av Beis Din of Tzelem and succeeded his father-in-law’s position in the rabbinate following his passing in 1890. He was the father-in-law of Rabbi Mordechai Rothenberg, Av Beis Din of Antwerp, and Rabbi Yissachar Shlomo Teichtal.
