Handwritten certificate of rabbinic ordination from Rabbi Yaakov Tannenbaum of Putnok in honor of his disciple, Rabbi Yosef HaCohen Schwartz, editor of Vayilkat Yosef.

Rabbi Yaakov Tannenbaum (1832 – 1897) was the son of Rabbi Zev Wolfe, Av Beis Din of Verpelet and author of Rechovos Hanahar among others. Rabbi Yaakov served as Av Beis Din first of Tallya, Mesocsat, and eventually of Putnok, where he remained until his death. He authored Responsa Nihari Afarsemon and Shemen Afarsemon on Torah.

Rabbi Yosef HaCohen Schwartz was the son of Rabbi Naftali HaCohen, Av Beis Din of Mad, son of the Kol Aryeh. He would go on to become one of the most prominent scholars of Hungary and is the prestigious editor and publisher of the
sefer Vayilkat Yosef; a project he undertook at the young age of sixteen.
