Best Wishes for Passover

Letter of blessing by the Minchas Elazar of Munkacs Includes a handwritten blessing for
“Joy, kashrus, salvations and great redemption in the world” during the upcoming festival of Pesach.

The front of the postcard is written in the hand of Harav Chaim Dov Greenfeld, gabbai of the Darchei Teshuvah, who writes at the Rebbe’s behest, “May they merit celebrating the festival of Pesach with joy…and may we merit witnessing wonders as in the time of the Exodus.”

The Admor Harav Chaim Elazar Shapiro (1872-1937) was the Av Beis Din of Munkacs and author of the Minchas Elazar. He was revered as one of the greatest Hungarian Chassidic Rebbes in the pre-Holocaust era and fought to preserve tradition. A son of the Darchei Teshuvah and direct descendant of the Bnei Yissachar, he was crowned Raavad of Munkacs during his father’s lifetime, and in 1914 as Rav and Rebbe of the city.
